Mom Buys Poofy Wedding Gown At Thrift Store, Then Transforms It Into Beautiful Cocktail Dress

If you ever happen to stand behind blogger Sarah Tyau when she’s in the checkout line at a thrift store, you might wonder whom she could possibly be buying such obviously oversized clothing items for — especially if she’s with her young daughters and baby son.

But Sarah sees more potential in the used wedding gowns, shirts, skirts, dresses, and other outfits lining thrift store aisles than meets the eye.

As you can see in the photos below, the mom clearly has a knack for sewing projects and uses all those items to create totally unique and adorable new outfits for herself and her family! She even shares all her steps on her blog, called Life is Beautiful, as well as on her YouTube page and Instagram account.

Look at Sarah’s finished products — you’d think she spent tons of cash at a department store or maybe a trendy boutique, but they all come from her own creativity.

Take a look at a few of her incredible designs from over the years, like the poofy wedding gown she transformed into a lovely cocktail dress.

And be sure to SHARE the gorgeous outfits with your friends!

Vintage Wedding Dress

She had plenty of fabric left over to make an adorable headband too!

Large Red-Striped Shirt

How precious are those tulip-shaped pockets?

Blue Plaid Jacket

I love how she used the original pockets on the jacket for this adorable jumper dress.

White Poofy-Sleeved Dress

The yellow dye was such a nice touch after toning down the sleeves on this very ’80s item.

Green Lace-Collar Dress

What a great idea to move the lace over to the sleeves instead!

Large Patterned Shirt

Her daughter was swimming in this sailboat pattern before she cinched everything up for the super-cute dress.

Large Blue-Checkered Shirt

Sarah transformed this vibrant blue shirt into a top and skirt her daughter can wear together or separately.

Pale Pink Dress

She amped up the blush pink of this old dress with some dye before adding the floral-inspired ruffle accents.

White Pleated Skirt

This genius upcycle of the super-long skirt was one of Sarah’s earliest refashioned outfits, with a few simple trims and stitches.

Teal Skirt

She gave this boring straight skirt a whole new life with a simple bow at the waist.

Yellow-Checkered Jacket

This can be worn as either a dress or a jacket by her little girl — and I love how the bow is detachable!
